Her champagne blonde hair.

Lifting her fingers off the alphabetical keypad, she ran her fingers through her champagne blonde hair at the back of her head, finally realising fatigue has caught up with her body. She gently pushed herself away from the screen and got up on both feet, feeling the usual aches in her back. It felt as though she had miles to travel as she dragged her burnout body to the couch. She plonked herself right onto the leathery surface and let out a sigh of relaxation. She reached out for her mobile phone on her proximate coffee table, flipped it open, already contented to see his beautiful face behind the screen.

She had in mind to ring him up, knowing that he would still be awake. She contemplated, but eventually decided to put off the idea as she didn't feel like talking at the darkest hour of the night.

She was getting too comfortable in the couch, very aware that she would soon drift off to slumberland. Not desiring for that to happen just yet, she laid herself in the most awkward position and attempting hard to keep her eyes wide open. She merely wanted a break from the piling reports to rush.

It was getting late, and the thoughts just streamed into her head naturally. She wasn't any luckier in other aspects of life. As she stared at the ceiling in a daze, all she could see at the back of her eyes were his images. She had a pair of emerald-coloured eyes, nothing like the rest.

His flashing images never ceased to appear, and it was unbearable, but she didn't stop them from playing out in her mind. These were the ones that kept her company throughout her sleepless nights. Funny as it seems, despite being extremely lethargic each night, she simply couldn't get to sleep without few rounds of tossing and turning.

She pulled herself up from the couch reluctantly and decided to walk towards the window, just standing by it. She peered out into the night sky. It was a typical spectacular sight, with a sleek sharp crescent moon hanging and a good sprinkle of sparkling stars against the sky.

She closed her eyes, picturing this beautiful scene with his presence. She pined for his companion, however, her simple request was way beyond her reach. Tears started welling up in her eyes, burning the inner flesh of her eyelids. Hot tears coerced her eyes open, bursting themselves free and rolling down her soft rosy cheeks. It wasn't like her choice, because it pains her to hurt herself this way, but she simply couldn't help but to weep.

She swept her finger tips across her face, wiping her tears dry. She searched for the best image in her mind to console herself. His face. His soft brown hair and hazel-coloured eyes. Those alluring eyes with a slight smile to match, a perfect face that attracted her gaze. Nothing else, that was all to comfort her. She finally put a smile on her face with a tinge of sweetness on her tongue, even though it only lasted for a sheer moment.

She stepped away from the window, returned to her seat and took a deep breath, as if convincing herself that she will be strong enough to face many other tomorrows despite all unhappiness. She took a lock of her champagne blonde hair, placing it under her nose and taking a whiff of her raspberry-spritz hair. Feeling all fresh and slightly perked up, she placed her fingers on the keypad and picked the work up where she left it.

29 March 2009.

Nerdy Ash on 29 March.

Nothing but a sham.

The spirit of your eyes for that brief moment left me dying in suspense. Your narrowed eyes portraying your infamous stern glare set the city ablaze, akin to Dante's Inferno. I knitted my eyebrows instantly, mulling over those intentions clouding in your mind. I was left to clear the mess after the massive cannonade. Those two words that warned me to not intrude into your thriving city, flourishing in affluence.

Verdict: Prawns have issues with me.
WHYYYYY?!?!?!
I love prawns, you know.
Spare me. Have mercy on me.

I had a couple seated at table 02, and they purchased a bag of endearmints from us. I was delighted as I appreciate people who love our mints and just so you know, these are imported from South Africa.

Whilst attending to table 05, the couple made their way to the exit, and the lady approached me. What I had in mind was merely a polite verbal gratitude from her.

Little did I expect her to stuff a ten dollar bill into my palm. I was overwhelmed in astonishment, but I managed to thank her in the next split second. I tried to get a grip of my consciousness and continued serving table 05, a family of four. They were astounded too. I almost failed in my attempt to prevent my mouth from curling into a smile. Yes, naturally, I was elated.

We had this whole commotion going on when we had a request for tables to accommodate 37 guests. It was impossible not to open station D as that was the only area left in the restaurant that was able to hold that many people. We were all stupefied. Station D was way too small for such a large crowd.

All their belongings were being piled up at the entrance of D, and the aisle between two rows of tables was awfully narrow. I went in there a couple of times to help out, and it was heating up like a incinerator, hindering us from breathing normally. Kudos to Q, and Mon, for putting up with a huge crowd in a cramped place.

Closing felt tedious today. To make it faster, Dyla swept both A and B, while I do the mopping. The worst part of closing is when we have to discard the dirty water and all. Dyla and I had to do it, yet again. After which, I left with Farhan, Nadz and Ash.
Thanks to Farhan, I got another ride home.

Bedtime.
Goodnight.

28 March 2009.

Earth hour at Fish & Co. on 28 March 2009.

I can't do without.

The heat was warming my skin, gradually penetrating into my body. I took an air-conditioned public bus to work. I made it there early, and I had foreseen a pleasant working time ahead.

I was blessed with the easiest station ever- A, on a Saturday night. I was glad to have Dyla working with me, and I haven't seen her in awhile. Hanah was overactive today, blabbering gibberish and grumbling about her difficult (nothing is too hard for her, actually) orders.
Hanah: I know why I have so many Jungle Freeze today.
Jean: Why?
Hanah: Because today is Earth Day what.
Jean: *laughs* So lame.
Jean: Then, today's stingray no banana leaves.
Hanah: Why?
Jean: Because it's Earth Day.
Hanah: *laughs* Even more lame.

Yet another fateful incident which occurred during peak hour. Prawn Trellis is probably my nemesis.
Dyla approached me saying that she unintentionally keyed in a Prawn Trellis whilst checking the orders of her customers. We got Charie to void the item for us, but being the usual absent-minded me, I forgot to inform the kitchen about the cancellation of order. Minthu was furious. I was to blame, I know. Tell me, does Prawn Trellis harbours something against me? I didn't even offend it.
I was taken aback by this incident, but I tried not to be reminded of it, lest I break something again.
When I eventually managed to convince myself to enter the kitchen, I braced myself and was prepared to ignore those expected questions that will be thrown at me. However, my worries were unduly. Minthu apologised, but I admitted that I was at fault. He even stood by the door, obstructing me from making my exit. Until he ensured I wasn't mad at him, he allowed me to leave.

Long awaited Earth hour finally arrived when the restaurant had the lights switched off. I didn't do my part (since I was at work), but I was a part of it (since I was at work). We had candles on every table, and the servers each had a lighter. The kitchen had their fair share of fun too when they switched off their ceiling lights for awhile. Bar had to function in the dark as well, but nothing can defeat Hanah.

Station D was alone, sitting in a corner in pitch darkness. It wasn't a challenge, but I wanted to try going in there for a reason. Hence, I plucked my courage and went in there to retrieve my camera.
BEAT THAT.
It wasn't as dark as it looked from the outside, of course.

After closing, Dyla and I made a mess in the kitchen and we were trying to clear traces of evidence of our crime. Hope we did a good job. Q and Nur waited for me before we left together. Good to have Nur as a company all the way to my home.

M-E-M-O-R-A-B-L-E.
Goodnight, earthlings.

27 March 2009.

Caffeinated.

Night of the twenty-sixth was by far the worst night, ever. I couldn't tame my wild imagination, and it overwhelmed the best of me, breaking my knees at every thought that ran through my mind. Without you, I would crumble, feeling helpless, with every futile attempt to bury the dolour.

Forked out some money to foot the charge for my cab ride to work. That is the price to pay when you want to seek better comfort and speed in a public transport, amongst all your other choices. I have got to be grateful, anyway, since I got to my destination without being tardy. Still maintaining a squeaky clean record.

I clocked in at noon. I can vividly recall the exact words a lady barked at me.
"I told you I don't want tar tar sauce, right!"
Puki kau botak.
A s H says:
hey u iece of shit, the sos on to of your puny fish is the lbs. not tartar sos

Pardon Ash's numerous typing errors. It is Earth Day to him every night.

Night shift was a blast. With the combined forces of ex-Crestians, you can expect lots of proactiveness, righteousness, care and self-motivation.
*Dodges from flying rotten eggs*
We have got Nabilah handling station A, Jean running station B, Mahir juggling between C and D, and finally, a male bar runner, Nur.
How awesome is that.

Doubt I can continue any further. May tomorrow be a better day.

Goosenuts.

The soup, it is choking me.

That dream is haunting me. I feel debilitated not being able to shake that dream out of my mind. Even if I am capable of doing so, would it alter fate, would it change the future? I would be the biggest fool if I perceive things this way. However, truth bites. I believe everyone can see the obvious, and I am no exception. I should have known, everything made sense right from the start. Someone told me I will know when the time comes, but I don't want to be the last to find out. I fear history will repeat itself.

I was talking to my mum just now, and we did it online. She was random, and I guess I found out where I inherited my trait from. She questioned, "Darling, are you happy with what you are doing now?"
She was referring to work. I had to say that I am happy with my work. Not that I am never contented, it's just that along the way, there were several factors which have interrupted my life. It's beyond possible for me to have the best of both worlds, so I could only reveal the positive side of work lest she gets all worried and probes further.

"Are there times when you were feeling down?" she pried.
I said no.
She didn't just stop there. She was asking me the times other than work.
I said no.
Who was I trying to kid? I had to say no, anyway.

My mum finally mustered her courage and braced herself to ask me a question I believe she wanted to raise many years ago. "Are you angry and mad at me for...leaving?" she asked.
In all honesty, I was never mad at her. I didn't reproach her, and I never will. She is my mother, and I love her with all my heart. I miss her so much.

She apologised.
